Fypon Beam & Trim Installations: 7 Contractor FAQs From Someone Who's Made the Mistakes

I've been installing Fypon PVC trim and decorative elements for seven years. I've personally made (and documented) 11 significant mistakes, totaling roughly $14,000 in wasted budget. 1. Are Fypon beams solid wood or hollow?

That's not a suggestion; it's in the International Building Code (Section 2406 covers safety glazing), and local inspectors will enforce it.

I found out the hard way. In 2023, I'd ordered regular annealed glass for infill panels on a porch with Fypon columns and aluminum railing. The inspector looked at the panel edges, didn't see the tempering stamp, and flagged the whole installation.
